OVERVIEW

The Sacred Valley Tour of the Incas includes visits to five remarkable sites: Chinchero, Moray, Maras Salt Mines, Ollantaytambo, and Pisac. You can explore all these locations in a single day.

This itinerary allows you to see the most important landmarks of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, showcasing the incredible stonework of the Inca civilization. You will also have the chance to interact with locals and take in the stunning mountainous landscapes, complete with glaciers, rivers, and the welcoming residents of this ancient valley.

For instance, you will stop at Chinchero to explore Inca ruins, a colonial temple, and visit a local family to learn about traditional Andean textiles. Next, you’ll head to Moray to see the circular terraces, followed by a visit to the Maras Salt Mines. The tour continues to Ollantaytambo, the largest archaeological site in the Sacred Valley, and concludes with a visit to Pisac before returning to Cusco.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Cusco - Chinchero - Moray - Maras - Ollantaytambo - Pisac - Cusco

Pick up from your hotel between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. and car ride to the north of Cusco. Our first stop will be Chinchero, a picturesque town, where we can see agricultural terraces, the remains of the farm of the royal Tupac Inca Yupanqui, the beautiful colonial temple built on the bases of an Inca building. We will observe the entire process of transforming wool into beautiful textiles, from shearing to washing and spinning. Continuing with our tour, we will arrive at Moray, where we will observe several natural holes in the grounds that functioned as terraces for agricultural experimentation. Then, we will continue to the Maras Salt Mines. Here, we will observe the natural process of salt extraction that dates back to the time of the Incas. Then, we will head towards the Ollantaytambo Fortress that was built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions by the inhabitants of the jungle. After that, we ill have a buffet lunch in Urubamba. After lunch, we will go to the town of Pisac where we will visit the Pisac Archaeological Complex, built in the period of the Inca Pachacutec. Its location is strategic. On the top of a mountain, you to have a view over the whole valley. At the end of the tour, we will return to the City of Cusco, arriving in Cusco at 7:00 p.m. approximately.
